I love watching the bond between Sam and Phoenix develop. At this point, it’s mostly Phoenix’s reactions as Sammy doesn’t do much! Although he does seem to love cuddles with her and he often seems to be studying her face.
Phoenix cracks me up when it comes to Sam. If there’s one thing that’s certain, it’s that she’s besotted with her little brother. She loves helping to pick out his clothes, giving him cuddles and helping me with the night routine of bathing him, feeding him, singing him nursery rhymes and reading a book before we put him to bed. One night she was having her goodnight cuddle, Sam swaddled and in her lap and I left the bedroom to grab something from the living room. I came back to the sweetest sight of Phoenix singing Mary Had a Little Lamb to Sam, who had fallen asleep, as she was gently stroking the top of his nose between his eyes. Heart melt!!
On the other hand, she has her typical ‘moments’ that all older siblings go through. From ‘Why does Samuel get to sleep with you and I don’t?’ to ‘Why do I have to clean my own room and Samuel doesn’t have to clean his?’ and ‘Samuel’s boring, he doesn’t say anything’. These are the moments that crack me up and I want to have recorded so I always remember them – oh the things that kids say!!!
